SPEECH (grades 7-12)
Developing poise and confidence in speaking is a vital element in preparing our children to fulfill the Great Commission. The text is The Public Speaking Handbook by Susan Benjamin. This book is well suited to home-school groups. While it eliminates the busy work assignments of most speech texts, it covers the basic components of good communication and varied types of speeches.
LITERATURE
Studying a book is different (and slower) than reading a book. It involves discussing and analyzing the content from a Godly perspective. Students will develop a notebook which contains information on the author, historical background, and notes on the literary elements for each chapter.
